Bible Verses on Love

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."  1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." Romans 12:9-10 “'The most important one,' answered Jesus, 'is this: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.'"  Mark 12:29-31 "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every...

Jesus' Example of Leadership

Throughout Jesus' life on Earth, He taught us how to lead like He did through His actions and words. He was considered a servant leader-different from the world's view of leadership. In the worldly sense, people are selfish and greedy when it comes to power and materialism and having things done for them. Jesus is the total opposite. He is the most unselfish being who ever existed yet is rejected and is the most humble being to ever live. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus said, " For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). The washing of the disciples' feet is a good example of this. He teaches that we should wash one another's feet in the form of serving them in love and compassion.  The main example of being a servant leader is when Jesus laid down His life for us-and it was prophesized in the Old Testament. He was the One who bore all of our sins and took the punishment.  "H e ...

Miracles-Do They Exist?

Biblical Examples of Miracles In the Bible, there are stories of events that many consider to be miracles. Here are a few examples: Miracle of Creation (Genesis 1:1) The Raising of Lazarus (John 11:1-44) Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind (John 9:1-41) Jesus Heals Leper (Matthew 8:1-4; Mark 1:40-45; Luke 5:12-16) Jesus Heals Deaf and Mute (Mark 7:31-37) Miscellaneous Miracles (Matthew 15:27-31) Jesus' Resurrection (Matthew 28; Mark 16; John 20; Luke 24)  Miracles According to Lee Strobel Introduction Neurosurgeon Story Lee Strobel, a famous journalist, discusses both sides of the story-he discusses miracles with a non-believer and several believers. Then he asks us to decide and wants us to think about miracles.  He talks about a man who finished very high in ranking in his high school class, scored very high on the SAT, and was granted a full scholarship from Yale. In college, this person was failing chemistry, a prerequisite in fulfilling his dream of be...

A Couple Questions that People Ask Themselves

What kind of future do I have? Ask God to help you figure out your future and let Him guide you. He has given you interests, skills, and abilities that will allow you to have a future that will accomplish what He wants you to do. The prophet Jeremiah says, "F or I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord , plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). According to the apostle Paul, we are all part of the body of Christ, and each of us should contribute with our talents and abilities. In Ephesians, Paul says, " And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:11-13).  In the first part of Corinthians, he also says,  ...

Merry Christmas!!!

People tend to get stressful this time of year-presents, Christmas lights, decorations, Christmas parties, and so forth. People who work for stores and delivery services are constantly working. Other companies may have more work depending how busy they are this time of year. Carrying down decoration boxes is actually a form of exercise-along with putting out lights, manger scenes, etc. Also, you can listen to music while wrapping/doing cards or make it fun with creative drawings and/or messages. You can also use your imagination with the presents and make them fun. Also, the ultimate and biggest reason for joy is the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior. I just wonder the look on Mary's and Joseph's faces when they were told the news of Jesus being born and the actual birth. How about the looks of the shepherds and wise men? That had to have been amazing. Luke 2:10-16 " But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy f...

Thoughts About Tiredness/Anxiety/Feeling Down

There are tons of people who I know and love that have stress. There are many people who are tired all the time and/or feel down. They may be tired from a long work day or stressed because of something happening in their life. People may be tired and they have no reason to be exhausted, yet they are. There are those who are tired and can't explain why they are so exhausted. To all of these people-I understand what you are going through because I go through it myself.  I know how hard it can be to stay alert at times. There are circumstances when I just feel like doing nothing because of the tiredness. You just have to try and battle the tiredness and ask the Lord for help. Jesus is the light of the world and brings joy to your life. Paul said in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Jesus is your strength to get through each day whether they are good or bad.  1 Peter 5:7 states, " Cast all your anxiety on him because he c...

Technology, Society, and God

Wired for Sound by Michael W. Smith is a song that has meaning. It is also, in my humble opinion, is such a great, upbeat song. Here are some of the lyrics: Word of mouth is the counselor There is no need for proof In a world that's wired for sound The tongue becomes the mighty sword That battles the truth In a world that's wired for sound Wisdom from the sacred page Is turned and ignored In a world that's wired for sound In today's society, there is all this negative news from the media. Technology such as smartphones and computers are distractions at times disconnecting people from talking to each other. People use their smartphones for Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and games talking about politics, sports, and entertainment. How about we use the news to talk about people doing good for one another more often? How about we use smartphones to post Scripture? How about we take breaks from our smartphones and computers and talk to one another?  How about we talk mor...
