Jesus' Humanity, Death, Resurrection, Living In Us

"For you know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sake He became poor although He was rich, so that by His poverty you might become rich." 2 Corinthians 8:9

"Rather, He emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness, and found human in appearance, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross." Philippians 2:7-8

God gave us His most precious gift to us-His Son Jesus, who is God in human form. Jesus is Wonder-Counselor and the Prince of Peace, yet He humbled Himself, displayed His humanity, and became poor for our sake. Jesus serves others and cares for others' needs before His own and has compassion for others as well.

Jesus knows what it's like to be human and He knows what you are going through. This is because of Him becoming poor for our sake and coming into human likeness as a humble servant. He understands your heartache, your pain, your happiness, and your joy because He Himself experienced humanity.

Jesus also cares for you and loves you so much that He died for you. Jesus suffered such an agonizing death-He was beaten, whipped, mocked, and even wore a crown of thorns on His head. Jesus hung on a cross for everyone to see, including His family members and His followers. Jesus even forgave the ones who killed Him and invited a criminal to be with Him in paradise. Then, three days later, He rose from the dead. He did it so that you may have life and so that you may be free from sin.  How amazing is that?

"For through the law I died to the law, that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ; yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given Himself up for me." Galatians 2:19-20

Paul wants people to realize that Jesus lives inside of each of us in our souls. Thomas Aquinas said that that the immaterial being of the soul is in the body and that the body and soul are distinct but unified. Aquinas stated that people can use this understanding to recognize that humans are complex. He also said that the image of the body can be seen in the soul when the body stops functioning since they coexist.

We all have been crucified with Christ and all have sinned. However, if we repent and believe in Him, we live because of Him giving Himself up and sacrificing His life for us. We can live and walk with Him in faith and have our lives changed for the better.
