A Couple Questions that People Ask Themselves

What kind of future do I have?

Ask God to help you figure out your future and let Him guide you. He has given you interests, skills, and abilities that will allow you to have a future that will accomplish what He wants you to do.

The prophet Jeremiah says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11).

According to the apostle Paul, we are all part of the body of Christ, and each of us should contribute with our talents and abilities.

In Ephesians, Paul says,

"And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the
saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:11-13).

In the first part of Corinthians, he also says,

"Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way" (1 Corinthians 12:27-31).

Try and find something you can do to help the body of Christ using your talents, skills, and abilities. Whether it is to write music, sell as an insurance agent, help with digital media, or work some other occupation make sure it gives you a balance so you can spend time with your family and friends. Allow yourself time to stay healthy and workout as well. God wants you to work hard!

Why am I going through hardships?

Evans talks about how Joseph in Genesis went through difficulties and rose to power with God at his side (Evans).

In the book of Genesis, Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery. He was also thrown in prison unjustly. However, God was with Joseph and he was made to be in charge of the prison. It also became known that he was good at interpreting dreams and visions that he credited to God. He told Pharaoh about the famine that came true and rose to power under Pharaoh. He reunited with his father Jacob (Israel) and his family and also forgave his brothers as Israel commanded (Genesis 37-50; Evans).

Then Joseph said the following:

"As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today" (Genesis 50:20).

Evans says that like Joseph, we are trained by God to accomplish what God plans for us to do. He turns the hardships and difficulties into good for His purpose. Eventually, because of God's training and help and your hard work, you will fulfill the destiny God has for you (Evans).
